This was for a studio information design poster. We had to come up with our own topics and do the research to get our statistics. I went with covering Des Moines Iowa's inequity. I wanted to show the underlying historical conditions that led to the living conditions now. I found maps from a hundred years ago that showed areas that were redlined, and recommended areas. Redlining, as it did every where in the country, caused major racial wealth gaps. As you can see on the poster, that still affects people today. All of the areas where the population is majority people of color is a low income area that was redlined in the 1930s.
